Bees fall in final non-conference game

St. Ambrose women's soccer traveled to Chicago, Ill., on Saturday evening to take on the University of Illinois Chicago Flames. The Bees gave up two goals in a 2-1 defeat against the Division I Flames.

The first half was quiet for both teams. The Bees put up a shot in the 11th minute, but were not able to convert. The Flames struck first nearly 19 minutes into the match, one of their 15 shots in the half.

The second half was similar to the first. The Flames dominated offensive pressure over the Bees, collecting 11 shots. Just over halfway through the half, the Bees evened the score. Sophia Roszkowski put one past the UIC goalie. Nine minutes later, the Flames responded with a game-winning goal to take the lead over St. Ambrose again.

Lauren Bendall and Roszkowski each tallied one shot against UIC.

Ella Oscarsson had six saves in the match against the Flames' nine shots on goal.

Next up, the Bees will travel to Bourbonnais, Ill., on Wednesday, September 17, as they take on the Olivet Nazarene Tigers at 4:00 p.m. for the conference opener.
