Bees fall 1-0 against the Saints

St. Ambrose women's soccer hosted the Holy Cross Saints on Saturday afternoon for the second conference game of the season. The Bees gave up one goal in a 1-0 defeat against the Saints.

The game was off to a very slow start in the first half. The Bees outshot the Saints 11-2 and earned two corner kicks to the Saints' zero. The Bees were obtaining great opportunities but could not find the back of the net.

Starting the second half, the Bees were energetic and optimistic. The Bees were able to win seven corner kicks to the Saints' one, and obtained eight shots to the Saints' four. The Bees would dribble up the sideline and send a cross into the penalty box, but the Saints' defense was doing everything in their power to make sure that the Bees did not get a shot off the cross. Holy Cross was able to sneak in a goal from outside the eighteen in the 63rd minute. The Bees tried to redeem themselves, but fell to the Saints after all.

Jenna Horst led the Bees in shots with five, followed by Lauren Bendall with four. Mia Hefner trailed with three and Olivia Infante noted two. Charlise Martel, Veronica Gordon, Sophia Roszkowski, Isabella Crawford, and Lauren Malone each tallied one shot.

Jonna Tucker played the whole ninety minutes and obtained three saves off of the Saints' four shots on goal.

Next up, the Bees will host Mount Mary University on Tuesday, September 23, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex in Davenport, Iowa.
