Bees secure first conference win against Mount Mary University
St. Ambrose women's soccer hosted the Mount Mary Blue Angels on Tuesday evening. The Bees scored nine goals in their first win of the conference season.
The Bees were devoted to winning as soon as the first whistle blew. Within one minute into the first half, Lauren Bendall scored off an assist from Isabella Crawford to put the Bees on the scoreboard. By the tenth minute of the match, Bees had scored five goals. St. Ambrose ended the first half with thirty shots, six corners, and zero saves.
The second half was a little slower, but St. Ambrose still had many opportunities. The Bees had twenty-seven shots in the second half and four corners. St. Ambrose scored two goals in the second half to end the game 9-0.
Jenna Horst led the team with two goals and two assists. Mia Hefner trailed with three goals. Bendall scored one goal and had one assist. Crawford earned two assists. Veronica Gordon scored one goal. Elyse Sarah Habersetzer and Olivia Infante both recorded assists. The defenders were able to secure some goals and assists as well. Chloe Travis and Bella Steiner both scored one goal, and Lauren Malone and Mia Vetter recorded assists.
Ella Oscarsson recorded 68 minutes with zero shots on goal, and Jonna Tucker also recorded 22 minutes with zero shots on goal.
Next up, the Bees will travel to Joliet, Illinois, on Saturday, September 27, as they take on the St. Francis Fighting Saints at 6:00 p.m.
