St. Ambrose edges St. Francis, 2–1, on the road

The St. Ambrose women's soccer team picked up a key Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating St. Francis 2–1 at Joliet Memorial Stadium.

Despite falling behind early, the Fighting Bees battled back with two first-half goals to secure the win. St. Francis struck first in the 4th minute when the Fighting Saints capitalized on a turnover.

St. Ambrose responded in the 27th minute as Jenna Horst netted the equalizer off a through ball from Sophia Roszkowski, finding space for a clean shot past the keeper. The Bees went ahead just six minutes later when Roszkowski converted after a takeaway, slotting home a cross from Horst in the 33rd minute.

Horst led the team with eight shots. Mia Hefner collected four, and Lauren Bendall tallied three shots. Chloe Travis, Olivia Infante, and Roszkowski notched two shots. Finally, Charlise Martel, Isabella Crawford, Mia Vetter, Elly Bare, Addie Kerkhoff, and McKenna Shilevinatz earned one shot.

The Bees' defense and goalkeeper Jonna Tucker held strong in the second half to preserve the lead. Tucker recorded four saves in the match, while the Bees outshot the Saints 27–13 and held a 4–3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bees return home on Wednesday, October 4th, as they face the Viterbo V-Hawks, looking to build on the momentum from Saturday's road victory.
