St. Ambrose battled St. Xavier to 1–1 draw on the road
The St. Ambrose women's soccer team traveled to St. Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois, on a brisk Tuesday evening. The Bees ended with a 1–1 draw after a hard-fought 90 minutes.
The Cougars struck first, finding the back of the net just 35 seconds into the match. The Bees didn't take long to respond. In the fourth minute of the match, Mia Hefner buried the equalizer off a well-placed cross from Jenna Horst, tying the game at 1–1.
Both teams had their chances as the game progressed, but neither could find the winning goal. St. Ambrose controlled much of the possession and created several scoring opportunities, outshooting St. Xavier 11–5 and putting seven shots on goal compared to the Cougars' one.
Hefner led the Bees with three shots. Horst, McKenna Shilevinatz, Lauren Bendall, Olivia Infante, and Elly Bare each added one shot.
Goalkeeper Jonna Tucker went the full 90 minutes in goal.
Next up, the Bees return home to the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex on Saturday, October 11th, to host Indiana University Northwest at 5:00 p.m.
