Bees outshoot the Jaguars 53-2 in their 3-1 victory
St. Ambrose women's soccer team put on an offensive showcase Wednesday afternoon, earning a 3–1 win over Governors State University in Crown Point, Indiana.
The Bees came out firing from the opening whistle, recording 25 first-half shots. St. Ambrose broke through in the 15th minute when Mia Hefner found the back of the net off an assist from Sophia Roszkowski. Before halftime, Isabella Crawford doubled the lead in the 42nd minute off a cross from Veronica Gordon, giving the Bees a 2–0 advantage going into the second half.
In the second half, Roszkowski added a goal of her own in the 64th minute to make it 3–0. Governors State managed to get a goal off a free kick in the 67th minute, but the Bees' defense held strong to close out the match.
St. Ambrose outshot the Jaguars 53–2 and earned a 6–1 edge in corner kicks. Jenna Horst led the team with fourteen shots. Roszkowski followed with ten. Hefner and Crawford noted six shots. Olivia Infante followed with four. Veronica Gordon trailed with three. Lauren Bendall, Addie Kerkhoff, and Charlise Martel all added two shots. Daniya El-Zein, Bella Steiner, Elly Bare, and McKenna Shilevinatz all tallied one shot.
Goalkeeper Jonna Tucker was resilient with only one shot on goal.
Next up, the Bees travel to Lakeville, Indiana, to take on Indiana South Bend on Saturday, October 18th, with kickoff set for 11:00 a.m.
