Bees’ season ends in National Tournament First Round against Aquinas

St. Ambrose saw its postseason run come to an end Thursday afternoon, falling 3–1 to Aquinas in the opening round of the NAIA National Championship in Indianapolis, Ind.

Aquinas struck first in the 31st minute to put the Saints ahead 1–0. The Bees continued to generate chances throughout the half, outshooting Aquinas 8–6 in the opening 45 minutes but could not find the equalizer.

The Saints extended their lead to 2–0 in the 72nd minute. St. Ambrose responded quickly, pulling one back in the 79th minute when Chloe Travis scored with her thigh to make it a 2–1 match. The momentum shift was short-lived as Aquinas scored again just three minutes later to restore the two-goal cushion. The Bees were missing Sophia Roszkowski, a key offensive contributor, as she went down for an injury early into the second half.

Despite the final score, the Bees applied heavy pressure all afternoon, outshooting Aquinas 19–16 and placing 13 shots on goal.

Jenna Horst led the offense with five shots, while McKenna Shilevinatz, Olivia Infante, Mia Hefner, and Roszkowski each recorded two. Veronica Gordon, Charlise Martel, Isabella Crawford, Chloe Travis, and Daniya El-Zein each contributed one shot.

Ella Oscarsson recorded seven saves against ten shots on goal for the Bees.

St. Ambrose concludes its season at 13–6–3, earning honors such as the CCAC Tournament Champions, CCAC Regular Season Co-Champions, and a national tournament appearance.
