Bio
One of the top goalkeepers in St. Ambrose history is now in charge of coaching the Bee goalkeepers, as Kourtney (Burkhalter) Mannall joined the coaching staff in the spring of 2012.
A cornerstone of St. Ambrose University women’s soccer, Kourtney Mannall is one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in program history and a dedicated leader in goalkeeper development at every level.
A graduate of Rock Island High School (1999), Mannall stepped immediately into the starting goalkeeper role at St. Ambrose University and quickly established herself as one of the top players the program has ever seen. During her collegiate career, she earned four First Team All-Conference selections, three All-Region honors, two NAIA All-American Honorable Mentions, and was twice named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. She still holds multiple SAU goalkeeping records and, in 2025, was inducted into the St. Ambrose University Hall of Fame—becoming only the second women’s soccer player in program history to receive the honor.
After earning her degree in Elementary Education from St. Ambrose, Mannall continued her academic journey, earning a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has spent her professional career teaching in the North Scott Community School District, bringing her passion for education and leadership into both the classroom and the soccer field.
Mannall returned to St. Ambrose University in 2012, joining the coaching staff to work with both the men’s and women’s goalkeepers. After nine seasons with both programs, she transitioned to focus exclusively on the women’s team. Over 13 seasons with the Fighting Bees, she has coached 11 All-Conference goalkeepers, and her units hold the program record for fewest goals allowed, reflecting her technical expertise and attention to
detail.
Grounded in education and deeply rooted in the local soccer community, Mannall lives out St. Ambrose University’s mission through a commitment to excellence, integrity, and holistic athlete development, preparing confident, high-level goalkeepers for success on and off the field.
