Bio
Ben Munster joined the men’s and women's swimming and diving program at St. Ambrose University as an assistant coach on August 1, 2025.
Prior to joining the Bees, Munster gained experience as a USA Swimming club assistant and High School head coach in Illinois. At the club level, he brings nearly a decade of experience teaching at all levels of the sport of swimming. Munster has assisted with swim clubs in the LSCs of Colorado, Southern California, Georgia and Illinois; guiding club members to improve their swim technique and performance. He believes in empowering each swimmer to take personal responsibility for maintaining and improving their swim technique with the guidance of a coach to achieve individual and shared team goals.
At Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Ill., Munster guided the High School Girl’s Swim/Dive team to back-to-back IHSA Sectional championships, as well as a top-10 finish at the 2024 IHSA State Championship meet. The team qualified an unprecedented eight student-athletes for the 2024 IHSA State Championship meet. The team earned All-American status in the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle relays in addition to setting two school records during this season.
During his coaching career, Munster has volunteered or worked at swim camps for Texas A&M University, the University of Georgia and Arizona State University, in addition to competing at Virginia Tech from 2009 to 2014.
