Jim Kiss was named the St. Ambrose men's tennis coach in January 2022. He took over as head women's tennis coach in July 2023.

In his first full season at the helm in 2022-23, Kiss led the SAU men to 10 dual victories, marking the most wins for the program since the 2014-15 season. The team had won just eight duals over the previous eight years combined before Kiss took over. He upped that to 11 wins during the 2023-24 season. That number cllimbed to 12 wins in 2025-26 as Kiss led the men to the semifinal round of the CCAC Tournament.

He was named the CCAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2025-26 after guiding the Bees to a 10-8 record, the program's first winning campaign since the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season when SAU was 7-6. His 2024-25 women's team won eight duals and also advanced to the semifinals of the CCAC Tournament.

Four of his teams (2023-24 women, 2024-25 men, 2024-25 women, 2025-26 men) have received the CCAC Champions of Character Team Award.

He is involved in recruiting, scouting, academic success, player development, scheduling and on-floor coaching. Along with competing at the top of the highly-competitive CCAC, the Bees have also succeeded in the classroom, earning NAIA Scholar-Team status in 16 of the 17 years Kiss has been on staff.

Kiss was a four-year basketball player at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He graduated in the spring of 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Kiss got his coaching start as an assistant at UMD during the 2007-08 campaign before joining St. Ambrose.

Kiss graduated with his Masters of Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose in May 2010. He oversaw all of the athletic department's NAIA compliance efforts from 2010-21, and most recently served the University as an Application Support Specialist.
