Records continue to fall for St. Ambrose

Over this past weekend at the Fighting Bee Invitational, the Bees continued their season full of both season records and personal bests while also breaking school records!

Starting off on the women's side, in the 60-meter dash, Sarah Jordan made finals and placed first with a time of 8.00 seconds, Lynzie Cady placed second in the 200m dash with a PR time of 27.65. Claire O'Melia debuted in the 400m with a time of 64.7 seconds, and Kaylee Mowen and Danielle Moore ran PRs in the 600m placing second and third (1:42.76 & 1:43.58).

In the women's 800m, Lexi Minard placed second with a PR time of 2:25.67. Also in the 800m, Eileen Elenteny ran a PR of 2:57.81, cutting almost two seconds off her original PR. Maurina Fahrenkrug and Adeline Smith worked together in the mile to achieve second and third places while also both grabbing PRs with times of 5:26 and 5:31. Allison Hein debuted in her track season in the 3k, getting a PR of 11:15 and placing fourth.

In field events, Erin Miner PRd in the long jump with a mark of 3.96m. Tosin Oshin PRd in the weight throw with a mark of 10.97 meters and Kayla Hess PRd in the weight throw with a mark of 9.96 meters.

Onto the men's side, the same weekend but at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa, Dylan Grandon broke his own 800m indoor run school record with a time of 1:52.51, to place fifth overall and hit the National B standard. Joe Reinhart, at the same meet, broke the school record in the weight throw with a mark of 18.47m, which also qualified him for the B standard.

Other highlighting performances this meet included a seventh-place finish in the men's 800m from Chris Miserendino with a time of 1:53.56. Keagan Erickson took third in the 60-meter finals with a personal record time of 7.03 seconds and Robert Lee placed fourth with a PR of 7.10 in the 60m as well.

More PRs included Saviour Vesey in the 60m (7.20), Anthony Westbrooks in the 200m (24.85), and Shawn Harris won the long jump with a mark of 6.80m. Westbrooks also was fifth in the long jump (6.42m). Braxton Story ran the 200m with a PR of 24.28 and doubled in the 400m placing sixth with a PR of 56.35. Jason Quiles broke 60 seconds in the 400m with a PR time of 59.47 seconds.

Some distance freshmen debuted in the 800m including Carver Reiss placing second with a time of 2:06, Jack Lied 2:08, and Samuel Beamon 2:16. Paced by Thomas Ashby, an SAU alumni, was Tyler Moody in the 1k, which resulted in a PR of 2:36.46. PRs in the mile included Ian Eller (4:29), Jack Degner (4:44), and Fischer Dickinson (4:50). Brady Belz placed first in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.62 seconds.

Reinhart competed at the Fighting Bee Invitational as well placing first in the weight throw with a mark of 17.26m and first in the shot put with a mark of 14.83m.

It was another great weekend from the Bees as the weekends continue to countdown to conference. The Bees will be the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kan., Jan. 30-31. This is the time that individuals start polishing and perfecting their performances to be able to both race and compete at conference!
