Bees crown multiple All-Americans, break multiple records at NAIA Championships

It was a week filled with school records and All-American finishes as St. Ambrose competed at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Gainesville, Fla.

In the mile preliminaries, Maurina Fahrenkrug ran a 5:36, and Kaitlyn Knoche placed 12th, finishing just shy of making the finals, but breaking a school record while setting her own personal record with a time of 5:04.86.

Elijah House ran the 600m prelims and PRd with a time of 1:19.42, and also placing 12th.

In the 800m, Dylan Grandon ran a 1:52.6 in the preliminaries to qualify for the finals, and the following day, he ran a 1:52.35 to finish fifth to earn All-American recognition.

Chris Miserendino ran the 1000m preliminaries. He placed 13th and broke the school record while also setting a new personal record, running a 2:27.07.

For the relays, the men's 4x400m consisting of Kaizer Riley, Charles Huesmann, Jatzyel Hernandez, and Javon Bruce ran a time of 3:17.25. For the mens 4x800m, in the preliminaries, Tyler Moody, Elijah House, Chris Miserendino, and Dylan Grandon ran a time of 7:30.78 which is now No. 4 in NAIA history and the school record for the relay. The next day, these men ran a 7:33.34 to receive All-American honors with a fourth-place finish.

For field events, Leavell Windfield Jr. competed in the triple jump with a mark of 14.24m. Joe Reinhart threw 15.72m in the shot put but earned All-American honors in the weight throw with a new school-record mark of 18.95m to place seventh overall.

All the athletes that had the chance to compete at Nationals put their heart and hard work from this season into these races and it surely paid off. Keeping this momentum, the next meet for all the Bees will be at the end of March where they will then kick off their outdoor season.
