Kavalauskas named CCAC Attacker of the Week

CHICAGO --- The latest round of women's volleyball weekly league honors have been announced by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference with Trinity Christian College's Brianna Figueroa (Hammond, Ind.) and Amanda Lichtenstein (Morton, Ill.) and St. Ambrose University's Jill Kavalauskas (Chicago, Ill.) garnering the plaudits for the seven-day period ending March 28.

Kavalauskas turned in a huge week en route to CCAC Attacker of the Week accolades. The 5-10 junior outside hitter averaged 5.2 kills and 2.5 digs per set, while attacking at a .367 clip.

Her biggest performance of the week came on Thursday in a five-set loss to Governors State University, where she set both a GSU arena and opponent record with her 31 kills. She only committed five errors in 55 chances that night leading to a robust .472 attack percentage.

Kavalauskas, who became the first St. Ambrose player to notch at least 30 kills in a match since the 2010 season, also recorded a double-double on Thursday with her 12 digs. She performed the same feat last Tuesday when she totaled 21 kills and 15 digs in a four-set win versus Lincoln College.

St. Ambrose's 2-1 week put the Fighting Bees at 14-8 on the season.
