Bees topple Trolls in makeup game

The Fighting Bees scored eight-straight runs to take down the Trinity Christian Trolls at Modern Woodmen Park Monday afternoon. The conference tilt was a makeup game for Saturday's rainout.

Mike Snow got the Bees on the board early with an RBI groundout that brought Chris McFarland across in the bottom of the second. St. Ambrose would tack on to their lead with after a fielding error by the Trolls allowed Nate Villagomez to come around in the fifth.

The offense kept rolling with a four-spot inning in the sixth. Kyel Alexander scored first on a wild pitch, Villagomez roped an RBI single to left, Shawn Rigsby lifted a sacrifice fly to center to bring in the pinch-running Tyreece Morgan, and Adrian Zietara came home on an error to cap off the big inning.

Max Rumpf put the finishing touches on the game with a pinch-hit 2-RBI double in the seventh to extend the lead to 8-0.

Trinity Christian (5-12, 1-3 CCAC) scored a run in the top of eighth, but it was too little, too late. Joey Turek collected the final three outs on the bump to nail down the 8-1 win for the Fighting Bees.

Conor O'Hara went 7 2/3 as the starter, scattering five hits and tossing 10 strikeouts to pick up his third win of the season.

The Fighting Bees will take on another conference foe Tuesday against Lincoln.
