Matias named NAIA Ball Hitter of the Week
After being named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week, Brandon Matias took home a national honor as he was recognized as the NAIA Ball Hitter of the Week.
Matias helped St. Ambrose to five wins in six games by batting at a .458 clip, collecting 11 hits in 24 at bats.
He finished with eight extra-base hits, including five home runs, to slug at a 1.208 rate. He added 13 RBIs, nine runs scored, three walks and one stolen base.
Matias, a graduate student from Glenview, Ill., had at least one hit in each game. His top game of the week was a 4-for-6 performance at the plate that included two doubles and two home runs and eight RBIs in a 24-14 win at Trinity Christian.
