Gonzalez named CCAC Player of the Week
CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University's Eric Gonzalez (Batavia, Ill.) and Judson University's Alijah Acevedo (Elgin, Ill.) have claimed the first set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball weekly awards, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Gonzalez was recognized as the CCAC Player of the Week after batting .625 with seven runs driven in over four games. He also authored a pair of extra-base hits among his five total over the seven-day period for a 1.125 slugging percentage.
The senior utility player went a perfect 4-for-4, including one double and a home run, with six RBIs in an 18-13 win over Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday. He also provided another run batted in and one more hit over the rest of the four-game series, where the Fighting Bees went 1-3 to start the campaign.
Defensively, Gonzalez was perfect in the field in 15 chances and helped turn three double plays.
