Theis named CCAC Men's Golfer of the Year

On the heels of winning its second straight CCAC Championship, SAU's Carsen Theis was named the CCAC Player of the Year as the conference announced its postseason men's golf awards today.

He is just the second Bee to earn the honor in the CCAC, joining Owen Hultman, who claimed the award in 2023.

Theis was also named first team all-CCAC alongside teammate Jacob Stoetzel. Ben King was selected to the all-conference second team.

Theis, now a first-teamer in two straight years, earned all-tournament honors in three events this season, which included back-to-back top-4 finishes to start the fall season. An opening-round 67 helped the junior from Grimes, Iowa, finish fourth at the Highland Championship as he fired a 138 (67-71). He then placed third at the Duhawk Fall Invitational with a 146 (71-75). Theis also tied for fifth place at the Loras Spring Invitational, shooting a 151 (75-76).

He earned top-20 finishes in eight of the 10 tournaments this year, and averaged a team-leading 75.59 over 22 rounds.

Stoetzel was tabbed an all-conference player for the third consecutive year and was named to the first team for the second time.

The junior from Mokena, Ill., posted five top-10 finishes and was the medalist at the Duhawk Fall Invitational after shooting a 145 (74-71). He also claimed all tournament honors at the Clarke Fall Classic by carding a 150 (73-77) to tie for fifth.

Stoetzel averaged a 76.82 over 22 rounds.

King also won a tournament to help claim a spot on the all-CCAC second team. He won medalist honors on the first playoff hole at the Clarke Fall Classic after posting a two-round 148 (74-74). King, a senior from Mokena, Ill., came up big for the Bees at the CCAC Championships. He fired a three-round 225 (70-81-74) to claim runner-up honors. He also took fifth at the Loras Spring Invitational with a 151 (79-72).

Over 22 rounds, King is averaging a 77.55.

King was joined on the CCAC Championships all-tournament team by Mason Steinert, who finished fourth with a 227 (79-76-72).

SAU finished the year by competing at the NAIA Championships at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
