SAU moves to 4-4 with shutout of Lindenwood-Belleville
Nine different Bees scored at least one goal and Louis Mallillin and Andrew Lis combined in goal to record the first shutout in program history as St. Ambrose blanked Lindenwood-Belleville 18-0 Sunday afternoon in Belleville, Ill.
SAU finished with a 56-7 edge in shots in moving to 4-4 on the season.
After leading just 2-0 after the first quarter, the Bees exploded for seven second-period goals. The team tacked on six more in the third.
Anthony Incesti and Liam Griffin led the offensive charge as each scored four goals. Incesti also picked up an assist, giving him five points in the game, a number matched by Nic Calabria, who recorded one goal and four assists.
Matt Romero had a hat trick and an assist and Thomas Parker netted two goals.
Myles Leyden picked up a goal and two assists and Jared Morgan and Nelson Velez each notched a goal and an assist. Thomas Kelly (one goal), Logan Kelley (two assists) and Austin Adams (one assist) also had points for the Bees.
Josh Bales won 16 faceoffs as SAU won 16-of-18 overall.
Mallillin made three saves, all coming in the first half. Lis was not tested in his 15-plus minutes of work in the second half.
St. Ambrose will next visit Robert Morris Wednesday, Apr. 4.
