Bees bounce back with win over Missouri Baptist

 St. Ambrose wrapped up a two-game conference stretch with a split, dropping a road matchup at Columbia before bouncing back with a key home victory over Missouri Baptist.

Columbia controlled the pace early and never looked back in an 18-8 win over the Bees.

The Cougars struck four times in the opening quarter and extended the lead to 6-0 early in the second before St. Ambrose responded. Zach Priami got the Bees on the board, followed by a goal from Zak Brown to spark a brief run.

After Columbia made it 6-2, St. Ambrose answered with back-to-back goals from Ayden Fraelle and Ryan Swanson to cut the deficit to 6-4. However, Columbia closed the half with four goals in the final two minutes to take a commanding 10-4 lead into halftime.

The Bees continued to battle in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 11-7 with three straight goals from Swanson, Priami, and Brown. But Columbia's depth took over in the fourth, as the Cougars erupted for seven goals to pull away.

Columbia finished with advantages in shots (45-31) and ground balls (38-31), while both teams split faceoffs evenly at 14-14. St. Ambrose was unable to capitalize on extra-man opportunities, going 0-for-8.

vs. Missouri Baptist (March 28)

St. Ambrose returned home and delivered a complete performance in a 12-10 win over Missouri Baptist.

After conceding the opening goal, the Bees responded quickly with goals from Zak Brown and Ayden Fraelle to take a 2-1 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter proved decisive, as St. Ambrose exploded for five goals to build a 7-2 advantage. Cameron Washington fueled the run with three goals, while Jagger Shaddix added an extra-man score and Zach Priami contributed both as a scorer and facilitator.

Missouri Baptist mounted a comeback in the third quarter, scoring five goals to trim the lead to 8-7. Despite being outshot heavily (47-35), the Bees remained efficient offensively and capitalized on key possessions.

In the fourth quarter, St. Ambrose regained control. Ayden Fraelle scored twice—including an extra-man goal—and Shaddix added another to push the lead to 12-9 late. Missouri Baptist scored in the final seconds, but the Bees held on for the win.

St. Ambrose converted 2-of-3 extra-man opportunities and limited turnovers to 14, helping offset a disadvantage at the faceoff (6-of-25).

St. Ambrose moves to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play, showing resilience with a strong bounce-back performance and balanced offensive production at home.
