Bees earn second win of the year over Dakota Wesleyan

St. Ambrose men's soccer hosted the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers Tuesday afternoon in Davenport, Iowa. The Bees were able to push past the Tigers with a 2-1 win at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex. 

The Bees dominated almost every stat category, outshooting the Prairie Fire 13-8. The Tigers held a 5-2 edge on corner kicks.

St. Ambrose struck first with a goal from Jake Pollock in the 28th minute of the game, assisted by Polvios Pelopida and Jörn Reck. It was quickly followed by another goal in the 31st minute from Berto Medrano, assisted by Joe Campbell. These were two of seven shots the Bees had in the first half. The remaining time was a back-and-forth battle of possession.

The second half was a slow start with a few corner kick opportunities for the Tigers. Dakota Wesleyan struck back in the 67th minute of the match, earning a goal of their own. There was a total of 13 shots between each team in the half.

Jake Pollock led St. Ambrose with four shots. Followed by Medrano with three and Campbell with two. Dylan Ollendieck, Reck, Hunter Lillie, and Narnnam Kongsappaisal each had one shot.

Bees' goalie, Dawson Yegge, held it down between the pipes, collecting four saves off 8 shots from the Tigers.

The Bees are back in action Saturday, August 30, for a matchup with Mount Mercy University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
