St. Ambrose keeps win streak alive Saturday
St. Ambrose men's soccer hosted the Upper Iowa University Peacocks on Saturday afternoon in Davenport, Iowa. The Bees came out on top with a 3-1 victory at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.
The Bees outshoot the Peacocks 16-11 and earning five corner kicks to the Peacocks three. With the tough pressure from the Peacocks fouls, the Bees were determined to win the game.
The first half was quiet until St. Ambrose struck first in the 20th minute with a penalty kick off a foul in the box from Upper Iowa. Josh Simon was successful with the kick to take the lead going into the second half for the Bees. The Peacocks answered in the 32nd minute tying the game at one goal apiece. Twelve minutes later, Kai Yoshikane answered with a goal of his own to secure the lead for St. Ambrose.
In the second half, the Bees finished their scoring efforts with a goal from Jake Pollock off a cross from Jörn Reck. The Peacocks were unable to register more goals to overcome St. Ambrose.
Pollock led St. Ambrose with four shots. Followed by Simon with three and Hunter Lillie with two. Joe Campbell, Elias Skogland, Ricardo Ronconi, Emelio Su Gomez, Reck and Yoshikane all tallied one shots.
Bees' goalie, Dawson Yegge, collected three total saves off the Peacocks eleven shots.
The Bees are back in action Saturday, September 13, for a matchup with the Dordt Defenders. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
