SAU finishes with two wins against the Tigers; A senior day sweep for the Bees

St. Ambrose (8, 10), Olivet Nazarene (1, 6)

St. Ambrose offensively dominated on Thursday. As a team, they collected 28 hits and 18 runs.

In game one, the Bees struck first in the top of the second inning when Brynnlin Kroymann crushed a solo home run over the left field fence. Two batters later, Kylee Claypool snagged a home run of her own over the center field wall, bringing in Justice Krus with her. To finish off the inning, Ellie Downing drove a single through the infield, forcing Mady Reed across home plate. Later in the fourth inning, Downing brought home Reed in a similar fashion, this time sending a double out to right field. The Bees rounded out the scoring in the seventh inning, picking up two more runs. Kroymann lined a triple out to right field that scored Becca Haag and Downing. She later scored on a single from Claypool.

Parker Leonard and Taylor Martyn also each had hits in the game.

Leah Maro pitched seven innings, striking out one batter.

In game two, St. Ambrose snagged the early lead. Claypool added to her stellar day by smashing a triple out to right, which brought in Downing and Reed. Reed picked up an RBI of her own in the second inning when she sent the ball to right center, causing Mia Souliotis to cross home plate. In the fifth inning, three more runs crossed home on hits from Kroymann and Reagan Engberg. Downing had three hits and two RBIs in the game. Haag recorded three hits, Mya Millsaps snagged two hits, and Kroymann collected one hit.

St. Ambrose swept the Titans on senior day.

The Bees started with a bang in game one on Saturday, scoring all nine runs in the first three innings. Ellie Downing, Kylee Claypool, and Reagan Engberg each had run producing hits in the first inning. In the following inning, Claypool drove a single out to right field, bringing in Taylor Martyn. St. Ambrose scored their final four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Kylie Schult sent a hit out to center field that brought Haag across home plate. Martyn came up to the plate and smashed a ball out to right center field, bringing in three runs. Hagg had two hits. Brooke Baker, Reed, Millsaps, and Kroymann each had one hit.

Leah Maro picked up the win. Cara Linnenkamp and Bianca Shorter also pitched in the game.

Game two was a pitchers' duel with nine hits between both teams. The Bees' lone two runs came in their half of the fourth inning. Haag led off the inning with a single to center field, and Anna Engberg was brought in as the pinch runner for her. She made her way around the bases, scoring on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt from Parker Leonard. Next at-bat, Mia Souliotis laid down another sacrifice bunt that scored Reagan Engberg. Reed, Millsaps, and Kroymann each had hits.
