Bees prepare for NAIA National Championship

For the third straight year, St. Ambrose will be part of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship field. But for the first time in the last three years, SAU will not be playing in its own backyard.

After hosting the Championships at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., in both 2023 and 2024, the Bees will head to Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich., for this year's national tournament, which begins May 13.

St. Ambrose earned the invitation by winning its second straight CCAC Championship. The Bees rallied from a 14-shot deficit after the first round to win the conference crown convincingly. SAU finished with a two-round 695 (359-336) to defeat second-place Olivet Nazarene (345-364=709) by 14 strokes.

Three Bees earned all-tournament honors at the conference championships. After closing with an 81, Amara Lytle tied for runner-up honors with a 171 total. Teammates Anna Hurning and Gabrielle Langlois each earned a share of fourth place with matching 175s. Aleanna Mendoza also finished in the top 10 with a 178, good for eighth place.

Those four will be joined by Addy Heineke in Michigan.

The first Bee will tee off at 1:40 p.m. ET on Tuesday. SAU will tee off at 8:40 a.m. ET for Wednesday's second round. St. Ambrose will play alongside players from Taylor and Midway both days.

After two full rounds have been completed, the field will be cut, reducing the field to the top 15 teams (plus ties) and six individuals who have not already made the cut with their teams (plus ties). Those remaining players will finish the four-day tournament Friday.
