Bees smash another season high against Lincoln
The Bees just can't seem to cool off.
After scoring a season-high 17 runs on Tuesday against Trinity Christian, the Fighting Bees put up an astounding 23 runs against Lincoln College to collect their fifth-straight win.
The success from Tuesday's outing translated well into their road trip game against Lincoln. Shawn Rigsby scored a game-high six runs in the leadoff spot,Liam Dennehy went 2-for-4 with three RBI's, Cooper Huckabone scored five runs of his own and Brenden Butler smacked a game-high five RBI's in the 23-8 win over Lincoln.
With four Bees getting two plate appearances in the top of the first, St. Ambrose jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. The Bees put up four runs in the fourth, fifthand sixth innings to put themselves in the run rule range heading into the top of the seventh. Casey Hollan pitched a 1-2-3 inning to end the game in the seventh inning.
Hollan pitched the final five innings of the game, picking up the win in relief. Hollan only allowed three earned runs on five hits, striking out four batters in the process. Adam Deal got the start for the Bees, pitching the opening two innings of the game.
A few Bees came in to pinch hit in the seventh inning, with speedster Adam Gaydos getting a quality at-bat in.Brock Lakin ropedan RBI single to third andChase Calderwood drew a walk.
The huge defeat of Lincoln College improves St. Ambrose to 11-13 overall and 7-1 in the CCAC. The Bees will take onanother conference foe in Calumet-St. Joseph on April 2 at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa.
