Bees dominate first game, second game postponed against Lynx
The St. Ambrose baseball team welcomed the Lincoln Lynx to Modern Woodmen Park for a doubleheader on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.
In game 1, the Fighting Bees got all the runs they would need in the first inning. After Michael Dudek struck out the side start the game, the Bees hit around their entire lineup to put up seven runs in the bottom of the first. St. Ambrose's excellent plate discipline was on full display, drawing five walks and hit-by-pitch in the opening frame.
The Fighting Bee's would chalk up four more runs in the second inning, added another in the third, and capped off their scoring with three more in the fourth to finish with 15 runs on the board.
The Lincoln Lynx (0-14, 0-5 CCAC) would scratch one across in the top of the third, but it simply wasn't enough to keep up with the Bees' red hot offense.
Mike Snow and Nate Villagomez led the Bees with three RBIs apiece. Adrian Zietara punched in two RBIs while Bryce Vincent, Brenden Butler and Kyel Alexander all knocked one in as well. Cooper Huckabone drew a game-high four walks.
The second game got off to a rough start for St. Ambrose. The Fighting Bees scratched across the first run of the game in the bottom of the first, but failed to do any more damage despite the bases being loaded. In the top of the third, Lincoln got three runs across to take a 3-1 lead.
The rain had really started to come down at this point. Both clubs decided to postpone the action due to the weather. The two squad will resume play when the Bees travel to Lincoln April 19th for another matchup. The Bees will be trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
