Playing its fifth match in four days, St. Ambrose closed its own SAU Invitational with a 25-19, 25-23, 26-24 win over Tabor Saturday afternoon in Lee Lohman Arena.
Grace Beitzel led a balanced attack with nine kills. Olivia Johnson and Alexa Orozco each had five kills, and Marta Barriguinha, Hannah Krouse and Sofia Pabon each finished with three. Chloe Fabry added a pair of kills.
Ines Marques handed out a match-best 27 assists. Adriana Diaz recorded nine digs and six of the team's 10 aces. Marques and Ella Karmenzind had two aces apiece. Kennedy DeBaillie and Orozco each collected six digs.
The first day of the tournament, which featured eight teams, including two nationally-ranked squads, wasn't as kind to the Bees.
SAU dropped its tournament opener to Dordt 25-21, 25-21, 27-25.
Orozco had a team-best 10 kills. Johnson had seven and Beitzel added five. Barriguinha and Krouse each finished with three, while Pabon and Emily Hickerson put down two each.
Marques was credited with 28 assists. DeBaillie and Orozco recorded 12 digs apiece. Olivia Hoskins picked up two of the team's six aces.
Later Friday, St. Ambrose lost to Cumberland 27-29, 25-14, 25-17, 25-8.
Orozco again led SAU by finishing with seven kills. Krouse, Beitzel and Pabon each had five. Barriguinha finished with four.
Marques had 21 assists and DeBaillie registered 24 digs. Diaz added nine digs.
The Bees return to CCAC action by hosting Trinity Christian Tuesday.
